There are quite a few good pixel fonts that work well on mobile phones. By using pixel fonts you’ll avoid anti-aliasing the fonts which can be awkward to read at small sizes.
Typically you should use something around 8 or 10 points which will provide the necessary contrast across the gamut of good and bad displays. Some good starting points for such fonts could be:
