Imagine watching your favourite movie on your cell phone and seeing this one outfit worn by your favourite star that you want badly. Just then, a ‘buy now’ icon pops up and you click that. The next thing you know is that the very same outfit is shipped to you. And since all your personal information is stored in the phone, it also ensures that you get your favourite colour and that too a perfect fit.
The $12-billion semiconductor major Texas Instruments has begun to sample this technology. TI and its partners know this technology better as OMAP Vox 2230 for mobile TV. While TI is keen on ushering the era of 3G with the help of this technology, sampling it for high-end mobile phones has started. The huge ecosystem of TI partners have already begun to work along with handset manufacturers to bring these high-end end gadgets to market at the earliest. When that happens, your cellphone will actually have all the functions of a laptop.
