” According to this piece of news from MacDailyNews, Apple Computer is poised to launch its own MVNO service by acquiring wholesale capacity from Cingular Wireless. With its runaway success in iPOD sales, this looks set to enrich the Cupertino company’s coffer with what looks like another hit.
Success in the MVNO market requires a widely recognized and respected brand, loyal customers, differentiated content, expertise and synergy between the company’s current business and the new venture, and Apple may be the best positioned of any player yet to make it work given its distribution, brand, installed base of iPods and software and iTunes integration.
Rumour has it that Apple plans to officially announce the iPhone in March or April ‘07, and the device will likely include between 4 and 8 GB of flash memory and a camera.
According to Red Herring, Hon Hai Precision, the Taiwanese contract manufacturer, whose customers include Apple, Cisco, Dell, Nokia, and Sony, has received the order from Apple to build 12m iPHONEs.”
Well I would love to see this gadget soon as I am a big Apple fan.
