Airtel lauches MCheck-a mobile-based payment system

Airtel has launched mchek, a mobile-based payment system that allows its post-paid customers to pay their telephone bill over their phone. Airtel subscriber can sign up for the service either through the Internet or through their mobile phone by sending the SMS ‘Mchek’ to 458.

Subscribers will then have to choose Mchek Pin as the password. To make a payment, subscribers needs to enter their 16-digit credit card number along with the card expiry date and CVV number. Next, they have to SMS’ PAY AIRTEL’ and the bill amount. Once they can confirm the transaction by typing ‘PYMNT’ and SMSing to 121.

What about security. SMS’s are not encrypted, so everyones credit card details will be there on the sms server. Any of the employees can sell these cards and misuse them.(not that airtel employees are theives). But still it is open.
As far as I know there is no “https” in mobiles so that there is absolutely no security.

Its secure i just registered it. But how much time will it take to get the money transfered. When will my card be debited with the amount and hwo much time wil it take for the transfer of amount.

My wife always pays her bills with MCheck. It takes about 1-2 days.

Mchek its purealy rubbish thing, n moreover customerservice line is that much pathetic which no one can think abt,so ma advice to all is please dont use this service,

I too support you. I was about to enroll for mCheck option. After seeing your feedback I changed my thoughts, not to go for it.

I have used Mcheck .. it isn’t good .. there are other mob apps in the market which let you pay your bills .. the best one in the breed and by now ,far ahead of its competitors, is this app called NGPay .. awesome product .. not only does it let you pay your airtel bill securely but also lets you book movie tix, travel tix, gift flowers, order food, make donations all through your cellphone .. guys, try it out .. go to ngpay.com to download it..

The payment through Feedback is such that.
Every now and then the message is timed out saying that ‘Activity” Paying with the merchant Airtelhas been aborted or timedout. Please try again after 5 minutes”.

This message I received after constant retry but in vain. Thanks to the time consuming system.
