The research firm Datamonitor forecasts that 42.7 million Europeans will subscribe to mobile television in 2012, resulting in the second largest subscriber base after Asia, according to an article in Broadcast Engineering.
Datamonitor says the profusion of standards — DVB-H, MediFLO, DMB, DAB-IP, etc. — leads to confusion in the market. The European Commission is backing a Nokia-base DVB-H standard for Europe.
