The worldwide mobile TV user population has now reached 20 million and will accelerate to over two billion by 2013, according to a new report published by consulting firm Telecom Trends International.
According to the report, “Mobile TV: Executing the Vision,” an overwhelming majority of subscribers presently access free-to-air mobile TV, although premium programming will gain traction as high-quality made-for-mobile programming becomes widely available across subscription-based channels. Telecom Trends International adds that while the market is witnessing the emergence of multi-network architecture, with the same device supporting more than one standard, DVB-H is evolving as the international de facto mobile TV standard.
