Dashwire is a new mobile network with a web presence that essentially acts as an extension of your mobile phone. It synchronizes with pretty much everything you do on your hand set, saving messages, images, videos, ringtones, checking your ringtones, and more. This gives you an easily accessible way in which to handle activity on your mobile without actually having to use it.
While other services enable you to send text messages from the web to another user’s cell phone, messages sent from Dashwire will appear to others as having been sent from your cell phone. You can even configure certain aspects of your cell phone, such as assigned ringtones to friends, through Dashwire

Forum Nokia launched in July a global campaign for finding new mobile applications and business plans. The ‘Mobile Rules!’ competition is its second year. Last year it was known as ‘Web2Mobile’ competition.
Nokia has teamed up with several venture capital and media companies to comb the world for best new ideas. The organizers promise the winners contracts or cash prizes.
The competition is divided into two ‘tracks’. The first is for qualified developers working on mobile applications for Nokia platforms in four categories: ‘multiplayer and connected games’, ‘multimedia’ , ‘enterprise’ and ‘infotainment’ .
The second is aimed at entrepreneurs, small businesses, start-ups and academic institutions and is for business plans in the mobile space, both those designed specifically for mobile devices and those that make existing static businesses mobile.
With one winner and two runners-up per category in Track One and one winner and two runners-up in Track Two, the competition prizes include Nokia devices, memberships of Forum Nokia Launchpad, promotion of the winning application/ plan through channels owned by Nokia or other competition sponsors and expert advice from Nokia specialists. The five overall winners will also be offered the chance to develop a contract with one of the competition sponsors or a significant cash prize if no contract is awarded.
The competition, which has its own website at MobileRules has November 16, 2007 deadline for submitting business plans and January 25, 2008 for applications. The finalist will be announced February 25, 2008.

Mobispine is a downloadable, mobile search engine as well as an RSS feed directory, that has recently launched its service.
Sweden-based Mobispine is looking to build the world’s largest feed directory for mobile phones. Users can contribute to the database by adding feeds, which other users can also subscribe to. Mobispine has an online component as well, which lets you search and view feeds, see related feeds, and leave comments on particular feeds. Mobispine also has a recommendation system, which shows feeds that suggest others like. After continued use, Mobispine will also alter your search results based on your ongoing search behavior. There are widgets you can place on your blog as well: two are subtle “subscribe” buttons, and one is a large cell phone screen that displays the actual news feed.
Similar services include Tappity, Mowser and Mobicious.

SMS advertisements, which used to irritate cellphone users, could soon turn out to be money- spinners with a Bangalore-based firm claiming to pay those who willingly receive the messages.
mGinger.com, started by three engineers, works on the principle of “permission-based marketing”.
It needs to be seen how far this service goes. I personaly will never want to receive so many messages just to earn few bucks , its quite irritating for me to receive lot of messages..
This is something similiar to the email service which had gained momentum few years back, when email had become popular. There were sites who use to pay to receive and read emails.
Would love to know about what other’s think about this service ?
